When I turn my air conditioner on, the fan makes a loud squealing noise. It sometimes does it without the air being on. The temperature gauge goes past the middle point, but never to the red. When I pop the hood, there is a yellowish googy substance everywhere. When I start the car and hold the accelerator cord down, the fans sometimes don't go on.

I believe it is called the electrical fan. It's the smaller fan.

If the fan is squealing it needs to be replaced when the bearing in the motors fail sometimes they will give you a warning a squealing noise. You can probably get just the motor to save some money.
