I turned the ac off and on again and the squeal stopped. Is there anything I can do to service the ac or should I start shopping a replacement? It is the ac for sure that is doing it, I see it stop.

If the compressor stops it may be frozen. You'll have to have a pro look at it. It cold also be the a/c clutch.
