My Mitsubishi Lancer experiences cold starts in any day and any weather (rainy or summer times). I am able to start the engine always on the second or third try. It doesn't happen when i just used the car within almost an 8-hour gap. But if more than 8hours idle, this problem happens.

Have the fuel pressure and fuel pump tested. Seems pressure is dropping after being parked for prolonged periods. Try cyling the ignition on and off 2 or 3 times before starting and if it starts easily, you would need to check the fuel delivery system for leakages, could be an internal leak of the fuel filter inside the fuel tank or a failing fuel pump.
