My car was idleing rough so I bought new ignition coil, plug wires and plugs. Well it was still misfiring and idleing bad. Misfires so bad it shakes the motor. Well after about a week I took out the plugs to check the gap it was supposed to be.050 it was.040. I noticed the plugs 3 and 4 had oil all over them the firing tip had oil on it. I took out another one and it was fine. What would cause the oil to get on the plugs and could that be the reason it is still misfireing and idleing rough? ( They told me at parts store that platinum plugs don't need to be gapped)

Dont beleive the problem is in the gap
1st check if the coil is firing all cylinders
2nd do a compression test on all cylinders and compare reading
3rd check injectors and injector pulse on all cylinders

So what about the oil on the plugs problem could that foul the plugs and make it run bad even if there brand new. Would new vavle cover gasket fix that problem.
