Is the engine block broken?

Are they the correct length?

Is the nose broken?

History of the starter?

Is the little support bracket bolted on?

Bingo.

There is a small bracket that goes from the starter to the block to support the other end to take the stress off the operation. Most likely was thrown away at some replacement. Very important bracket.
