2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Convertible Top

I have a Cavalier Convertible, the top recently has started to open while driving it. I took the plastic part around the lever off and found that the little metal piece that is supposed to be attached (I assume) to the bar that locks the latches in place, is not attached. My question is this. Can this be fixed, if so what would I need to fix it? What are these parts called? I'm sure "little metal piece" is not the technical term. Thanks for any help in advance!
