1999 Toyota Camry Ignition Coils

I'm planning on replacing the ignition coils on my 1999 Camry V6. It appears that there are 3 on the front spark plugs, but I wanted to check and see if they're truly 3 more on the rear. I looked into it, and someone online who changed their spark plugs in the same engine said that there are 3 ignition coil packs on the front 3 spark plugs and these coils are connected to the rear. I just want to be sure before I replace the coils.

A little background: my car starts up right away when it sits out all night, but during the day I have issues starting it. It will crank for up to 5 seconds on the drive(s) I do during the day. An auto parts employee informed me it's likely one of the ignition coils going bad and said it's worth replacing them myself.

Any help is appreciated!

Yes you are correct but I don't know why they would say you have a bad coil causing that.

I'm not sure. I'm definitely a novice so I'm in tune to what my car is doing and never know why it's doing it. Do you have a suggestion on what it may be? I told the guy it's weird since it starts easiest when the engine is cool. The next times throughout the day it takes a lot of time to turn over. I did recently get a new battery, so that wasn't the culprit.

Have you checked for codes in the computer yet?I would suspect possibly a bad coolant temp sensor.

Yep, I have same Camry. And there is only 3 coils in front, but two plugs, on each coil, I bet you all ready noticed, on left side of coil, there is a plug coming out from under plastic cover, that's your power source for coil, and guess what? Coils sits on front row of spark plugs, on 2,4,6 cylinders, and on front of coil, there is high tension cables go, around valve cover, in to plastic cover, and go behind engine, they go to rear side spark plugs 1, 3, 5 cylinders, so if you have deep wallet, you can replace coils, they are ONLY 96$ each in car quest, or Napa, anyway, before you can feed hungry mobs with cash, try this. Take ohm meter, and test primary coil , which is plug where Is power supply to ignition coil, it should read between. 0.70 to 1.10 ohms Primary coil resistance. Secondary coil resistance is for ASIAN MADE 10.8 to 17.5K ohms. DIAMOND MADE is 6.8 to 13,7K ohms. And spark plug cables should be maximum 25K ohms resistance per cord.
