i am having trouble getting my car to go into park when i go to put it in park it seems to get stuck in reverse

It sounds like the shift cable is weak and needs replacing, You may be able to readjust the cable to fix the problem. Does the transmission go into low gear?

how do i adjust the shift cable and yea i think the transmission goes into low gear but i am not sure

If the transmission goes into low gear, the cable probably needs replacing. On some cars the cable does not adjust, if there is an adjustment it will be down at the transmission. The other option is the transmission has an internal problem, but well cross that bridge when we get to it. Please check if it goes into low gear, or if it adjusts so we can go from there.
