Over heating

Christmas eve this year [12/24/2010], my car decided to over heat! I have never had a problem with it at all! I try to keep the oil changed on a regular basis. The day after [12/25/2010], I put water and coolant in the car. Today, it wanted to heat again. I am being told 500 different reasons as to why the car could be over heating. Please help!

I drive a 1999 Saturn SC-1 3 door. Not sure of the engine type though. :\
