1999 Saturn Ion 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual. I have engine oil in the coolant recovery tank, any ideas on cause? should I replace the engine?

Is the engine running rough? Miss firing? Over heating? Oil in the coolant will normally be a head gasket problem. Is the oil level very low? We would be doing a bit more investigation before installing another engine.
