I need a new motor so I need to know if I get the "2.4L (VIN T, 4 Cyl, 146 cid), w/EGR, " or the "2.4L (VIN T, 4 Cyl, 146 cid), Without EGR; (opt RC9)." Is an EGR required? If not, is it better to have one, or not?

On the top front of the engine (LD9)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Remove the Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator.
Disconnect the electrical connector to the EGR valve.
Remove the EGR valve bolts (1).
Remove the EGR valve (2).

Sounds like it, you can go to the dealer and they can look up the option and tell you if it is EGR engine. May also depend on what state the car is from
