When starting from a stopped position, the accelerator pedal sticks. It doesn't do it all the time and there is no pattern to it sticking. It seems to be getting worse, about half the time. When it sticks, I increase pressure with my foot on the pedal and when it releases, the tires make a chirping sound. I get looks from other motorists.
I have sprayed WD-40 on all the linkages from the pedal to the throttle body. Doesn't help. Any ideas?

The throttle plate inside the throttle body is sticking due to excessive dirt accumulation. Remove the air intake hose and spray some carb cleaner into the barrel. Open the throttle fully and repeat procedure. Get a toothbrush or rag to clean the dirt. Repeat till the barrel is clean and problem should be solved.

Spray carb cleaner into the porst inside the throttle barrel and allow to soak for a few seconds. Reinstall everything and start engine, it might take some additional cranking time as presence of results in an over rich condition and engine might struggle to start. After that it should run well and the idlng speed should be more stable as compared to before.
