1999 Mazda Familia hold light

Hi I have Mazda Familia when I start moving it ll engage 2 gear and the hold light comes on and it ll only pull with 2 gears and feels heavy on the foot. What could be the problem

Have a trans guy scan for codes it's more than likely a seal or clutch in trans is bad

Thanx very much I will take the car for scanning and see where the problem is.I went to one of the workshops and they told me it might be temperature switch, I dont really know whether is true or not.
