Okay, that makes sense to me. You most likely replaced the starter relay. Since the issue involves the starter not working, you need to check and make sure there is power to the smaller wire on the starter. Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check. You should get 12v with the key in the start position. If you do, remove the starter and bench test it or have a parts store check it for you. If there is now power, you need to return to the starter relay and check to see if power is getting to that point.
