I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 v-6 with 200,000 miles. It has a 5 speed manual trans. It has been shifted so many times the shift lever is very sloppy. (It is hard to find the gears) could you tell me how to fix this

Check the linkage. Chances are the nylon bushings are worn out.

You can not buy the bushings you have to buy the whole shifter assembly from a dealer for 200.00 dollars. However the bushing rubber around the shifter was worn. After much thought I replaced it with a piece of rubber hose. Works great for now. Poor boy fix
