I am wondering if my transmission went out because when I shift, I can hear it shift and hear something spinning in the area in front or in the tranny. It is automatic. I was backing up while turning and I felt a few small clunks and when shifted to drive it was just like slipping and catching. I then proceded to turn in to park and it was making a terrible clicking/grinding noise. I shifted into park but it would not park, I had to use e-brake. I had to pull my car back home about a mile behind a truck and when we started the grinding noise was bad and it got faster as we went faster but by the time we got back it had worn down enough to where it could not be heard. When I start my car now it sounds fine until I shift into reverse, I hear the shift in the tranny, then hear what sounds like the imput shaft spining and not catching, like the teeth are stripped. Neutral is fine, the rest of the gears I can hear it shift in the transmission. Without the e-brake on the car acts as its in neutral I also think it could be a cv shaft?

Thank You sooo much

Well I will be dropping the transmission anyway and swapping a 5 speed into it but I was just seeing what you guys thought about the axle idea.
