Is thermostat replacement a fairly simple process in a 1998 Saturn SL2?

Yes it is pretty easy you just follow the lower radiator hose to the engine and at the end hose is the thermostat housing. Two 10 mm bolt's hold it on you take it off and the thermostat is twisted into the housing. The new thermostat should come with a cardboard tube you use that to push down the thermostat and twist it to remove it.Then use the tube to push down the new thermostat and twist it to lock it into place.

Dont forget to drain the coolant when the engine is cold first.
