1998 Mercury Sable radiator fans and temp gauge not working and engine overheating

My 1998 mercury sable radiator fans wont turn on why? And the temp gauge isnt working either it falls below cold I changed the sensor because the old one was broken

Check to see if fans are good by testing directly. Did you try turning air on to see if they come on?

The radiator fans work. The temperature sending unit is cracking from the middle so its barely attached on there but the wire is good, could that be the problem on why the temperature gauge isn't working and falling below cold? I have left the car turned on for a while and the temperature gauge doesn't go up at all it stays below cold

Try gounding wire to block to see if that makes gauge max. If so replace sensor.
