I am putting a new cylinder head on to replace the old one that was stolen. The camshaft is pretty easy to determine where I need to set it at for TDC. The issue I'm having is with setting the no.1 piston at TDC because it needs to be on the compression stroke. Is the stroke (exhaust or compression) just determined by which valves are open or does the crankshaft positioning play a role as well?
