P1899 Park/Neutral Position Switch Stuck In Park or In Gear. What are the symptoms?

Park neutral switch stuck in park or gear. Go figure. Some people have replaced switch but no fix. Some have found wiring harness chaffed/shorted.
If car has no problems you could just ignore it?
