Every 3-6 months my service engine light comes on & when I scan the alarm it reads cylinder 6 misfire. The truck runs great & the alarm has been occuring for the last 3 years but no motor issues yet. Would it be a good idea to replace the coil to eliminate any future issues?

no. i would start with a compression test.

check the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. it is coming on for a reason. find the reason and fix once, do not just throw parts and cross your fingers.
