I am wondering how to fully diagnose a problem with the fuel pump? I had a problem a couple days before she wouldnt start again. I would give it gas and it would bog down a little almost like all fours werent firing. I let it sit a couple days and then it snowed hard here in denver and got to extreme low temps. At first I thought it was the battery but it does not seem that is the cause. I'm pretty sure all four plugs would not go at the same time but know it wont start and seems to turn over. After a conversation with a pretty sharpe kid at auto zone I believe it might be the fuel pump?

I have a 1997 tacoma 4x4 4cyl. Reg cab please help me to find out the problem. I have 180k on it and have only replaced the starter at 80k the cluth at 130k shocks once. Nothing ever serious.

If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage.

At the pump, blue wire is voltage, white is ground, check for voltage with engine cranking. If you have good voltage and ground with no pump action, I suspect the pump.
