1997 Nissan Altima Altima stalling idling roughly

My altima starts and runs but when I come to a stop it idles roughly the rpms surge to 0 and it stalls. Sometimes the dashboard lights flicker on and off and there is a small amount of black smoke coming from the tailpipe. I was thinking it is the fuel pump. What is wrong I need help I love this car!

Check fuel pressure, injection jets and spark plugs
may be caused by mixture formation

Clean the mass air flow sensor with the cleaner and see what happens
