I have a 1997 Ford F350 5 speed 4 wheel drive. I had someone replace the clutch a fews months back and they did not put locktite on the driveshaft bolts. Now i have a huge crack in my transfer case and my transmission is toast. Could the driveshaft bolts backing out over time (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch) put enough stress on a transfer case to crack it?

that's a good questiion. I don'lt know but anything is possible on that. If the t-case has a crack in it i'd check for loose bolts there as well as transmission mount. If the driveshaft was loose though it should have vibrated alot which you should have felt . If it vibrated enough then i would be taking a guess that it would crack the case, but it depends where the crack is .
