Try ptogramming the transmitter to see if it helps.

PROGRAMMING REMOTE TRANSMITTER
NOTE: Procedures must be performed within the stated time limits. Four
remote transmitters may be coded into system.

1. Turn ignition on. Within 1-4 seconds, press remote transmitter lock or unlock button while pointing transmitter toward keyless entry control unit. Turn ignition off within 1-4 seconds. Go to next step within 1-4 seconds.
2. To program another transmitter, repeat step 1). Four transmitters may be coded into keyless entry system. If more than 4 transmitters are coded, the first transmitter code will be erased. After all desired transmitters have been programmed, go to next step to verify system operation.

3. Within 15 seconds of programming final transmitter, press lock or unlock button. Verify that door locks operate and go to next step.

4. Check door lock operation using each transmitter. Turn ignition off and remove key. Remote transmitter codes are now stored in keyless entry system control unit. Reverify door lock operation.

The red light working indicates the remote is not working and if programming does not work, it could be a fault with the control module and that would require a visit to the dealer.

Conrol unit is under passenger seat. Check for presence of water, which can cause the control unit to be damaged.
