My Subaru Impreza WRX is stuck in reverse wont change into any other gear its jammed

Yesterday we tried driving back in reverse slowly and then it popped back into neutral but today I went to reverse and it has just been stuck since my uncle said the selectors or tightnin clutch im not sure please help

Something is bent or misaligned. Can you move the shifter with the engine off?

No cant move it at all with engine on or off. Could it be the clutch because it sits quite high and doesnt kick in till the last but of release

Not really. If you can't move the shifter with the engine off, it's most likely something bent or broken.

See the attached image. Since the problem is Reverse, I would say maybe the reverse shift fork.

Oh ok thankyou so much. When it was in first gear the other day it drive normal no problem with changing to 2nd 3rd etc just I put it into reverse and it wouldnt move back to any other gear. By any chance do you know if it is a big job or really expensive to get thr reverse shift fork fixed?

Not if you do it yourself. By a repair manual. Take pictures each step of the way, that way, if you get confused trying to put stuff back together, you have the pictures. You can buy a one month subscription to the service for your car here:

Some of the best mechanics I know are females.

I can't tell you how much it will cost. That would entail me knowing what the transmission repair shops in your area charge.
