1996 Saturn SL1 Code P1404

Exchanged, cleaned and finally replaced the EGR valve cleaned TB checked and no vac leaks reset MIL and P1404 returned after a couple of days driving on short trips. What additional things can I check to solve problem? Thanks

What is the part number of the egr you out on also brand?Did you make sure both egr ports arent clogged?

The replacement egr was bought at autozone part #EGR1044 both ports are clean and the egr was installed in correct position, could the evap system be causing CEL to keep coming back

A failure in the evap system won't set egr codes?How did you make sure the egr ports aren't clogged?

Cleaned ports by starting eng while egr was off car for a few seconds

That's a good way to see if the ports are clogged. But if they are clogged that won clean them When you did that did the engine race and you heard a loud exhaust leak? You don't want to over look that and waste a bunch of time looking at things that aren't the problem.
