'96 Sable shift/idle problems

'96 Sable. Sometimes hangs up in 1st when in D. Shift to 2nd and it goes through all the gears. Pull up to stop sign and it idles fine. Pull up to park, shift in D, and it dies. Come back moments later and it will idle again. I know it is electronic, just don't know what. Any ideas?

What you need to do here is check the transmission fluid condition and level if okay bring it in to a tranny shop and have it pressure tested to find out more what's going on.
