Position front wheels straight ahead. Disconnect negative battery cable. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Remove air bag module retaining nuts. Disconnect wire harness from air bag module. Remove air bag module.
Disconnect speed control wiring (if equipped). Mark steering wheel and shaft for installation reference. Remove and discard steering wheel bolt. Using steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel. Route contact assembly wiring through steering wheel as it is removed.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Remove steering wheel and horn pad. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD. Remove steering column upper and lower shrouds. Disconnect combination switch electrical connectors. Remove combination switch screws. Remove combination switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
If you have never worked with an air bag it is highly recommended that you have apro do this. Also you will need anew steering wheel nut.
