Check engine light is on

Check engine light is on. Had it scanned and code reads engine misfire. I dont knw where to start any ideas? Need too clear codes too pass emissions. Thax

What is the exact code number? That will indicate which cylinder is causing the misfire. Code 300 is random cylinder misfire. Code 301 is cylinder number 1 misfire.

Spark plugs and wires are the most likely suspects, but on high-mileage GM products injectors are common too. If you suspect an injector, swap two of them and see if the misfire moves to the other cylinder.
