Have a 1995 corolla 1.8 lt engine idles fine with a little vibration but under a load engine backfires

Change plugs , wires, check injectors ,fuel pump,distributor cap . Did not change timing belt could the belt cause this ? Have a question on a 1995 Toyota corolla 1.8 lt with a distributor can replace the engine with a one out of a 1999 corolla with coil pack ?

check compression first. timing could be the issue but you need the belt checked as well.
