I have a 1995 Saturn SC2 and I am having an issue with the transmission. From start I can drive it down the road and it shifts through all gears fine. Drives for about a mile and then kicks down into low gear and will slip. It will not shift out of low after that. I can stop and shut engine off and restart and it will go through gears again then repeat. It does not seem like a loose connection since it is not unpredictable. It seems to go the same distance everytime before failure. I can unhook the trans range switch and it takes off in 2nd gear but will go through gears fine and never fails. I have done the following.

1. Changed valve body from doner car that I was able to test drive before removal.
2. Inspected wiring from connector.
3. Changed PCM

FYI the transmission was recently changed and this is when this issue began. I drove the car the transmission came out of for over 2 hours before installing so transmission was proved before installing. Could it be the Trans range switch?

What year is the transmission out of the one you put in?Also are you using the same torque converter? If not what year car is that out of?Are all those transmission codes that flashed out of your low coolant light? If so you have a nice 3rd gear no second gear and no tcc codes? The no tcc code on the 1995 cars are usually a combination of a bad torque converter and the boring on the end of the input shaft that slides into the torque convertor. The orinhs rot and split over time.

The transmission came out of a 1995 sc2. Same year make and model. Used torque converter out of doner car I got the Trans out of. All worked fine in doner car. I drove it over 2 hours before removing Trans.

Yes the codes are flashing out of low coolant light after I get 11 code from check engine light.

With bad torque conver why will it run and shift great when I unhook Trans range sensor?

Is the trans range switch/selector switch the same one that came with the donor transmission? If so then if it was bad it would have been acting up in the car you drove around for two hrs before you removed the transmission and put it in that car. Also did the other transmission have the same symptoms and codes before you changed it?
