I have a 1995 Mercury Cougar XR7 3.8l V6. I am having hesitation when accelerating. I checked the code that was being thrown and it said TPS. Being that it was 30 bucks I went ahead and bought it. Well after replacing it I still had hesitation but now it idles at 2000 rpm. I disconnected the TPS and it drops back down to normal( about 750 rpm). I cleaned the throttle body, IACV, replaced the pcv. And checked for vacuum leaks and found none. I had also mistakenly adjusted the throttle stop screw any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Scan for codes again and checkfuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it. Also if you didn't mark original positon of tps then it' may be out o f adjustment causing your problem.
