What would cause soot inside my car?

Nothing inside the vehicle should be doing it.

I was wondering if it was something going in the engine sending soot through the vents or something.

It should not as well.

The only component capable of discharging soot would be the exhaust system and unless it is leaking, then only it is possible for soot to be emitted.
