Battery light is on on dash board battery dead

Charge battery and start and check voltage at battery posts should be 13.5 to 14.5 volts or a little higher. If below 13.5 alternator is not charging. Have it tested at auto store and replace if bad. If alternator is good then you likely have wiring issues.
