95 geo tracker how to check for codes

95 geo tracker 160,000 miles, 1.6L, check engine light just came on, went to check the codes, with a snap-on code checker, and it said there was a 6 pin connector , by the left strut tower at the firewall that needed 2 pins shorted, I cant find it, how do I check the codes?

The connector on my 95 geo is actually just in front of the battery at the bottom center. It has a rubber cover over it. If you short the same ones as when you time the car then you need to run a wire between number 4 and 5 holes. Begin number one with the hole with nothing in it and count left to right.
