I AM removing the pitman arm from the drag link,is there enough play in the linkage to use a pickle fork to separate the ball stud from the tie rod end without bending the linkage?

If you can bend that linkage, I don't want to meet you in dark alley! A pickle fork will work. One with an air hammer will make the job easier. There are also tools that go over the stud, then tightening a bolt presses the stud out. Wrapping it with a hammer helps while the bolt has pressure on the stud.
