1995 Powerstroke occasional stutter with extreme miss today. Replaced valve cover gaskets in fall because of a similar issue. I am reluctant to think they are the problem being that are so new.

Valve cover gaskets do not cause misfiring or hesitations. If it is leaking, the oil can and will contaminate the spark plug ans wire causing the misfiring or stumbling. Get the spark plugs and related components checked.

Its a powerstroke. Meaning that is an diesel engine, pay attention. The valve cover gaskets double as wiriring harness that runs to the injectors and glow plugs, and due to resistance in the glow plugs the connetors will burn up. I've been down that road. I'm not a fool, Please only respond if you are actually capable of answering my question. By the way the connections are not burnt.

Does it do it all the time? If so sounds like you might have a broken wire going to one if the injectors. Might need to hook up to scanner and see if you have a miss fire or not

No it may go a week or more, seems to happen randomly. Would a scaner show anything if the check engine light doesn't stay on?
