Check engine light comes on after a while

I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.2 engine, 318 motor with duel exhaust. Why does the engine light come on for days then some days or even months it wont come on, but the truck still runs and sounds fine?

The check engine light comes on after awhile when your driving and stays on then some days or even months it wont even come on.

When was the O2 sensor changed last. Had the same problem. But still check the codes first.
