I have a 95 chevy 1500 5.7l v8 automatic 2wd. The check engine light is on, so I took it up to a mechanic. They hooked it up to the machine and it didnt even register that it was hooked up. About a year ago I used a jumper and counted the flashes to get my codes. I told the mechanic and so he also hooked up the jumper and still no reaction. Where do I start?

If you have it at a shop, they should tell you what is wrong or get it out of there and go to a better shop.

Could be a blown fuse for the ecm or a bad ecm

I didnt leave it at the shop when they started talking aboiut charging me for diagnostics on the diagnostics.

Would it still run is it was a blown ecm fuse/ bad ecm?

Where is the ecm fuse?

My truck runs but wont shift into 3rd. And if in drive when it is time to shift up into third then the rpms max out. If I put it into 2nd manually then it runs fine.
