What is wrong with my Cavalier?

My 1995 chevrolet cavalier is experiencing a hard crank but it will start. The car rus fine as log as it is going under 40 mph. If it is pushed to accelerate any higher then it cuts off. It will start right up after it cuts off but again it will not accelerate above 40 mph without cutting off.

Use a gage and check fuel pressure. How long since a tune-up? How long since you replaced fuel filter? As far as the filter, don't take any fuel lines loose unless your sure there is no pressure on the fuel system. Any applicable trouble codes?

Fuel pressure spec, 41--47 psi.
