Would a bad throttle position sensor cause my 1994 geo to bellow white smoke from exhaust.I have check heads, rings, etc. It smells like a fuel smoke not oil. It when it is idling it leaves a black smut on the ground under exhaust pipe. Thanks for your help

Sounds like its running too rich-due to the following

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.

Also check engine oil could be loaded with fuel
