1994 Ford Explorer xlt 4.6 pushrod failed leakdown test so Pep Boys says It is either head gasket, head or block that needs repair or replacement. Steam is coming out of the exhaust with a slight smell of antifreeze when first starting in the morning or after setting for an hour or so. It goes away in a few minutes and the Ford runs very well after that. This all started after the engine got very hot (bad freeze plug)and I drove it for a few (5) miles to get it home so I figure it is probably a head that has cracked but it's just my guess. Now I must put two bottles of water in the radiator every other day. How much to replace the head. Or gasket. Or replace the whole engine. I live in Vallejo, CA. Thank you, Doug

Thank you Merlin. I may try it but will probably just bite the bullet and pay some one to do it. I'm 71 and don't think I have the patience for it. Doug
