Transmission won't shift into overdrive when head/park lights are on

Transmission shifts fine with lights off. But when you turn them on, the car will kick out of overdrive and then shifts poorly. If you turn lights off, it shifts and drives well. The car has 150,000 miles, a 1.9 engine, automatic-overdrive transmission.

As far as I know, the wiring has not been tampered with especially. I have not had this care for more than a few thousand miles however

Without seeing it, I have no idea. You will need an electrical shop to track this down as it is a very odd situation.
