Check transmission light keeps coming on

1993 isuzu rodeo check transmission light keeps coming on and drives really slow when taking off, after shutting off the vehicle for a few seconds and starting it up the light will go away and it will run fine for a little while before having the same problem. What could be the issue? V6 Automatic transmission with 4 wheel drive. Checked with a local parts store to see what type of sensors the transmission had and they couldn't pull anything up.

1993 Isuzu Rodeo I had the same problem and I replaced the shift sensor. Runs pretty well now 164,000 miles!

I guess I could have posted a reply when I fixed it lol. I replaced the transmission filter and about half of the fluid, started it up, then the alternator seized on me so I replaced that and the belts and it has worked perfectly since. I'm willing to say it was the alternator and that it wasn't sending the correct signals to the transmission.
