1993 Dodge Stealth. Oil pressure low at idle, and after warms up. If I pull over and sit for a minute, pressure comes back up. Sometimes it stays up if I stay under 50mph. 200,000 miles & recent change to 20w50.

Sorry. Oil level is full, as is engine coolant. Hasn't overheated. No noise from engine. Changed to 20w50 2 weeks ago due to oil smoke, which stopped after change to this weight. In Kansas, temps were 95-105, now 85-95. Still HOT.

Oil pressure:

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.

Thanks Rasmataz. Confirms my thinking. Don't have a gauge or the proper tools, not a mechanic, but needed to confirm my thought before I took to a mechanic to check the gauge, switch &/or sending unit. My luck, it's probably the pump, or worse, but I guess I'll just hope for the best!
Btw. You think I'm ok to run the 20w50, or should I back it off to 10w40? Ever hear of CD2 oil additive? Read some interesting things about it's use for smoking vs using the heavy wt oil, but some people say "never" use any additives.
Laid off work.$$$ Is tight. Can't afford rebuild if it's something "worse".

Just to clarify. When you say "oil pressure switch", are you meaning the oil sending unit, or a different actual "switch"?
