I just replaced the cap, rotor, spark plugs and spark plug wires on a 1992 chevrolet blazer with a 4.3 port injected engine. When I go to crank, it will crank for 2-3 seconds then thump and stop cranking and slowly start cranking again but wont start. It will repeat this problem through the entire time holding the key on start

Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.
If this is a Vortec, it requires a minimum of 55PSI to run and it should hold over 50 for a few minutes.

Sounds like you may have a cracked distributor cap causing it to crossfire into the wrong cylinder. This is assuming you haven't messed with plug wire order.
