Engine on it has a very unsteady idle.

I have a 1990 Jeep Cherokee Larado, 4 speed automatic, with a I6 4.0 engine.
It starts fine, runs great at speed. But when I come to a stop with the engine on it has a very unsteady idle. It feels like its missing, but the lurches it makes are completely random. It can do it 20 times in arrow before returning to a normal idle or once. My Question to you is, Do you know whats causing this fault.

I just replaced the fuel filter spark plugs and put fuel injection cleaner in the tank, these replacements did not help.

Start with checking the idle air control valve and check for vacuum leaks.

Clean the idle air control valve and EGR valve and see what happens-also test the TPS closed/WOT voltages
