Check to make sure everything is clear, exhaust, intake. Also, check to make sure the choke isn't sticking partially shut. NOTE: 1986 was awhile ago. I believe the truck has a carb and not FI. If it has FI, check fuel pump pressure to make sure the pressure is within spec.
