My idle keeps dropping way low

Car will be running great then out of no where idle drops so low I have to hold foot on gas. Then sometimes will go back to normal any suggestions put new hei dizzy in last week just checked timing today and its 8deg btdc jcould somebody tell me how to time small block chevy 350 and what timing should be at
